Special Educational Needs and Disability at Wheatfields Infants' and Nursery School
Wheatfields Infants’ and Nursery School is an inclusive school and all our pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. We value every child as an individual and understand that they have different strengths and needs.
Jayne Nicholl, our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) supports the staff to ensure that pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) make progress in the academic curriculum and in their personal, social and emotional development. She can be contacted via the school office (01727 859978) or via email (nichollj@wheatfieldsinfants.aetrust.uk).
At Wheatfields Infants’ and Nursery School we support the needs of pupils
with a variety of adjustments and interventions which support progress and access to the curriculum. These include the Wellcom programme which supports the understanding and development of language, Attention Autism bucket time and sensory diets in class and in our Woodlands sensory room. We are also supported by a team of external professionals who provide additional support as needed.
