Our School Day

If you are bringing your child to Treetops, our wraparound care, the pedestrian gate by the tree will be open for you to safely bring your child/ren onto the school site from 7.30am. Please do not drive into the school car park.

Please keep to the paths and cross the carpark via the zebra crossing to keep each child safe.

Start of school day

The pedestrian gate that leads directly onto our playground will open from 8.30am.  Parents/carers for children in either in Year 1 or Year 2 (Key Stage One) can wait with their child/ren on the playground in the morning. Please don’t allow your child to use the apparatus whilst they are waiting with you.

Staff will come from their classrooms and collect the children from their “class line” and take them directly to their own classrooms.

The staff come out onto the playground ready to take Key Stage One children in at 8.50am.

Children in Nursery and Reception (Early Years Foundation Stage) will take their children directly to the classroom doors and be greeted by staff as they arrive. Nursery starts at 8.40am and Reception starts at 8.50am.

If you have a quick message to relay to the teachers (such as a playdate or a different adult collecting) please catch the teachers at this time and let them know. If you need a longer conversation please make an appointment for a different time as we need to get all the children into school promptly

Assembly times

1.15pm – 1.30pm   Mondays & Tuesdays: British Values, School Values, Current affairs, Festivals, Visitors

1.45pm – 2.15pm   Wednesdays: Singing Assembly  

9.00am – 9.20am   Thursdays: Class Assemblies

2.30pm – 2.50pm   Fridays: Celebrating achievements both in and outside of school

Morning play

In EYFS the outside classroom is used as much as indoors and so there is no set break time.

In Key Stage 1 each class has a break time at a time suitable for that class. This break time will be fifteen minutes

All children take part in “Fit in Fifteen” which is our terminology for taking part in the equivalent of a mile a day.

Lunchtime

11:20am - 12:20pm is lunchtime for Nursery

12:00 – 1:00pm is lunchtime for Reception

12:00pm - 1:10pm is lunchtime for Key Stage 1 classes

End of school day

Nursery class finishes either at 2.40pm or 3.20pm depending on your attendance pattern

3:10pm is the end of the day for all of the other children.

Nursery and Reception children are met by their parents at their own classroom door.

Key Stage One parents wait on the playground close to but not at the classroom doors and the teachers will let the children out one by one once they have seen the correct adult waiting for them.

If it is not the usual adult collecting your child, or if we do not recognise you, please bear with us whilst we check to make sure that you are a trusted adult to take your child home.

The school works closely with all parents/carers to ensure the safety of all pupils at this busy time of the day.

Depending on the ages of your children you may wish to pick your Nursery child first, then Reception or Key Stage One and then your junior child as there is enough time to get from one side of school to another. If your child’s attendance in Nursery means they finish at 3.20 then you would pick that child up last.
