Pupil Premium and Catch Up Funding

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. Schools receive a payment, or Pupil Premium, for each child who has registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, those looked after by the local authority and the children of armed service personnel.

 

For 2020/21 this income was £10,760 (£1,345 per child). For 2019 this income was £13,200 (£1,320 per child). 


Schools, Headteachers and teachers decide how to use the Pupil Premium allocation, as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for these pupils within their responsibility. They must also report on-line how they have used the Pupil Premium and the impact it has had on pupil achievement. Coronavirus Catch Up Premium

 

The government has given schools Coronavirus Catch Up Premium Funding to support pupils who have fallen behind in the pandemic. Full details of the DFE funding can be found here.

At Wheatfields Infants’ and Nursery School we have been allocated £21,440 which can be used to support children from Reception to Year Two.

We are required to publish on our website the following information in relation to the funding:

 

How it is intended that the grant will be spent?

 

  • To enable us to continue to have an additional teacher supporting targeted children with Maths across Year 2 either as 1:1 or in small groups
  • Additional Learning Assistant to give every class full time support across the school which enables focussed learning groups to take place each week supporting both mathematics, phonics, reading and writing. This will also sustain teaching when there are staffing difficulties due to a positive case of Covid or staff having to self-isolate

 

How the effect of this expenditure on the educational attainment of those pupils at the school will be assessed?

  • End of term data analysis
