Nursery Admissions for September 2025

If your child is born between 01/09/2021 and 31/08/2022 you may apply for a Nursery place to start in September 2025.

We will be taking applications from 1st November 2024 until 21st November 2025.

You can arrange to visit the Nursery on one of our tours in January.  See below for dates.

Application Timetable

 

Friday 1st November 2024: Applications for September 2025 Nursery places open

 

Friday 21st February 2025: Applications for September 2025 Nursery places close

 

Friday 14th March 2025: Schools will write to parents offering a place

 

Friday 21st March 2025: Parents must accept or decline a place by this date


 

Applications

 


Children can start in our Nursery the term after they have turned 3. Please contact the school office for availability.

 

Please be aware that having a place in our Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception; you will still have to apply separately for a place in Reception and follow the Hertfordshire online admission system via the Herts Direct Website.

 

If any Nursery option is oversubscribed, spaces will be allocated using the following admission criteria:

 

  1. 15 hours place will be allocated first.
  2. If there is oversubscription for 15 hour places we will continue to implement the following admission criteria
  3. Looked after child

  4. Medical/Social need

  5. Social need (as requested by health visitor or social worker)

  6. Parents/Carers who work at our school

  7. Sibling link

  8. Distance to the school

  9. Parental preference / work arrangements

  10. Age (if the need arises priority will be given to the older child)

  11. Ensuring there is a balance of both girls and boys

 

In addition, we will offer 30 hour places until all spaces are filled. You can check the following website to see whether you are eligible for 30 hour free childcare https://www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator - you will have to reconfirm this to us through an 11 digit code every three months.

 

Please note that if you are entitled to 30 hours free childcare for working families but are only intending to take up a 15 hour place, you can use the remaining hours for our before and after school club "Treetops" or to pay for lunch club sessions.

 

If there is oversubscription for 30 hour free childcare places, we will implement the following admission criteria which is based on the Herts Admission criteria:

Childcare funding checklist for parents

An eligibility checker  is available on childcarechoices.gov.uk, enabling parents to access personalise information on the support available, including which of the new transformational childcare offers available depending on childs' age and parent earnings.

 


 


Nursery Sessions

 

At Wheatfields Nursery, we offer each child an entitlement of 15 hours of high quality provision. We have devised a number of options and we hope one of these arrangements will suit both your child and family's needs.

 

Session times: morning 8.40am – 11.40am; afternoon 12.20pm – 3.20pm

 

The options available to you, are as follows:

 

Option 1: 5 morning nursery sessions (Lunch club available from 11.40am - 12.20pm at a cost of £4.20 per day)

Option 2: 5 afternoon nursery sessions (Lunch club available from 11.40am - 12.20pm at a cost of £4.20 per day)

Option 3: Beginning of the week – all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning*

Option 4:End of the week – Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday*

Option 5: 30 hours Monday to Friday **

 

* involves a cost of £4.20/ day to cover lunch clubs on the full days as this is above the 15 hour free entitlement

 

** involves a cost of £4.20/day to cover the cost for last session of the day as this is above the 30 hour free entitlement. Priority will be given to parents wishing to take up the full 30 hour Nursery entitlement. 

 

Additional sessions may be available once numbers have been confirmed at a cost of £21 per session.
